In the district of Farsta, planning is taking place for 8000 new residences, which will increase the need for high-quality, engaging parks in the area. Within this context, Nivå was tasked with devising a programme of development for evolving Farsta Strandpark into a new principal park for the borough. Farsta Strandpark is situated by the lake Magelungen, south of central Farsta.
Within the park lies the wild swimming spot Farsta Strandbad and the historic site Farsta Gård dating back to the 1300’s. The project encompasses the communication process with the involved administrations and reference groups from the area. Through a proposal with clearly represented additions in the form of entrances, nodes and ambience enhancers, the park is given a layer of contemporary additions with new functions, while still preserving its existing activities and culturally significant elements. The first stage, which was initiated in 2020, included a renewal of the Farsta Gård orchard and a new jetty in the extension of the garden’s central axis.
