REdesign是一个重新思考和探索设计相关联的材料和工艺的组织，2019年REdesign项目以人造板（胶合板/ MDF /刨花板）作为创作主题，蔡烈超工作室以5mm的薄胶合板作为材料，旨在表现这种常被忽视的材料呈现出独有的属性，如轻薄和韧性。蔡烈超工作室尝试让物尽其用，探索材料最具价值的潜力。In 2019, REdesign project used wood-based panel asthe theme of creation.Mario Tsai Studio uses 5mmthin plywood as the material，which aims atexpressing the unique attributes of this oftenoverlooked material,such as lightness and toughness.Mario Tsai Studio tries to make the best use ofmaterials and explore the most valuable potential ofthe material.

Grid Bench栅格在图像处理中是将图像中的指令转换为像素，基于此设计师对基本形态的长凳做了栅格化处理，以5mm的薄胶合板片作为像素化后的基本单元，横向与纵向的薄片通过垂直插接形成稳固的结构方式。隐藏的插接结构，让薄片之间看似不相关联，进而每一片在视觉上呈现漂浮感和不稳定的临界状态。轻薄通透的属性与视觉的重量感形成的反差更增添产品的戏剧性。绿色渐变版本的栅格长凳是设计师对颜色区间像素化的试验，坐面19片板19种绿色同样也是对合作工厂高超油漆工艺的呈现。Grid is the instruction to convert an image intopixels in image processing.Based on this,thedesigner rasterized the basic form of the bench.The5mm thin plywood sheet is used as the basic unitafter pixilation, and the horizontal and verticalsheets are vertically inserted to form a stablestructure.The hidden plug structure makes the sheetsseem to be unrelated. And then every pieces visuallypresent a sense of floating and an unstable criticalstate.The contrast between its thin property and thevisual of weight adds to the dramatic nature of theproduct.
