In 2018, the typhoon Mangkhut damaged thecoastline of the Dapeng peninsula to various degrees. In 2019, team KCAP+FELIXXwas selected to develop plans to restore the coastline and raise protectionstandards. The team developed the ‘Triple dike strategy’, an integratedapproach towards the climate adaptive reorganization of the 130 kilometer longshore. Water safety strategies are connected to eco-development and naturerestoration, and merged with social and economic growth.

打造沿海社区COASTAL COMMUNITIES

沿海岸线的几个村庄原本是渔村社区。三重堤坝战略的应用为这些沿海社区提供了一个，以提高其现有质量，释放发展潜力。通过在现有边界内增加新的开发项目来保护村庄的小规模身份。每个村庄的独特性都得到了加强，以丰富娱乐设施的变化。

Along the shore, several villages originatefrom fishing communities. The application of the triple-dike strategy provides thesecoastal communities with a framework to enhance their existing qualities whileunlocking potentials for growth. The small-scale identity of the villages isprotected by locating new developments within the existing boundaries. Eachvillage’s specific character is strengthened to amplify the rich variation ofrecreational facilities.

杨梅坑YANGMEIKENG

2020年5月，杨梅坑滨海大道在海防建设六个修复场地中第一个完成。在500米长的狭长地带，测试了基于自然的海堤策略的性能，并探索和完善了物化原理。该“示范区”的建成是2021年建设18公里堤坝的第一个里程碑。
In May 2020 theYangmeikeng Sea Boulevard was the first of six strategicdevelopment areas where the construction of the coastal defense was completed.On a 500m long strip, the performance of proposed nature-based strategies forthe sea wall are tested, and materialization principles are explored andrefined. The realization of this ‘demonstration zone’ is the first milestone inthe construction of 18 kilometers of embankment by 2021.

三重堤坝TRIPLE DIKE

“三重堤坝”的三个保护区强化了杨梅坑的特征，作为一个绿色堡垒。设计避免了宏大的都市规模，保留了有机的乡村生活。不同区域的各色设计邀请游客参与各种活动：如游泳、与朋友一起野餐，或者沿着林荫大道散步。
The three protective zones of the ‘Triple Dike’ strengthen the character of Yangmeikeng,as a fortress in the green. The design evades the introduction of a grandmetropolitan scale and supports the organic village life. The varied design ofthe different areas invites users to engage in diverse activities; to go for aswim, have a picnic with friends or take a long walk along the boulevard.

第一个区域由“波浪花园”组成，花园中置有岩石，并种植了坚固的海滩植被，以减轻台风期间水流的影响，并提供野餐场所，以供欣赏海滩上的景色。

The first protective zone consists of‘wave-gardens’, mitigating the impact of the flow during storms. They areplanted with robust beach vegetation and rocks, and offer places forpicnicking, to enjoy the view on the beach.

中间区域由一系列不同高度的活动墙体组成。团队在不同的高差上建造了广场和可供遮荫的露台，由风景优美的步道连接。

The middle zone is composed of a sequenceof shifting walls, with different heights. They create plazas and shelteredterraces on different levels, connected by a scenic walk.

第三个区域由一系列“雨水花园”组成，作为公共空间的一部分。郁郁葱葱的树木和灌木植被与相邻的山脉融为一体，并提供纳凉的场所。这些花园收集并渗透雨水和波浪。

The third zone is formed by a collection of‘rain-gardens’, as part of the communal space. The lush vegetation of trees andshrubs blends with the adjacent mountains, and offers covered and shadedplaces. The gardens collect and infiltrate rainwater and wave overflow.

墙体和人行道与沙滩融为一体。具体化了三个堤坝区域的特征：精致的材料用于庇护场所，坚固的元素用于开放区域。

Walls and pavement blend in with the sandcolor of the beach. The materialization illustrates the characteristics of thethree dike zones: more delicate materials are used for sheltered places, robustand solid elements are used for the exposed zones.

国际认可INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

The project received international recognition, and appreciation by experts andprofessional juries. It is shortlisted for the World Landscape Architecture(WLA) Awards 2020, winner of the Eurasian Prize 2019-2020, exhibited in RocaGallery London’s exhibition 'Sea Change: Flood Resilient Architecture for the21st Century' and selected for the‘Water as Leverage’ exhibition of the International Architecture BiennaleRotterdam (IABR) up from September 2020.
