Inthis exhibition, twelve circular paintings, createdbetween 2012 and 2021, represent Eliasson’slong-standing investigation with light, color andthe ways we perceive and interact with oursurroundings. Known collectively as the ‘colourexperiment’ series and numbered sequentially, thesecircular canvases strive to challenge ourexpectations and encourage our eyes to stay inconstant motion.▼展览现场,Installation view©JeffWhite展览中的几幅画作描绘了作为自然现象的彩虹所呈现出的明亮光谱,这也是埃利亚松的创作实践中反复出现的主题。 Several paintings in Your light spectrum and presencefeature the bright spectrum of color seen in thenatural phenomena of a rainbow, a recurring motifthroughout Eliasson’s practice.Eliasson began his ongoing ‘color experiment’ seriesin 2009, inspired by the idea of producing a new, comprehensive color theory that would comprise allthe visible colors of the prism. He began by workingwith a color chemist in an attempt to mix an exacttone of paint for each nanometer of light in thespectrum, which ranges in frequency fromapproximately 390 to 700 nanometers.▼《色彩实验》92号,2020和《色彩实验》94号,2020Colour experiment no. 92, 2020, and Colourexperiment no. 94, 2020©JeffWhite▼《色彩实验》113号,2021和《色彩实验》105号,2020Colour experiment no. 113, 2021, and Colourexperiment no. 105, 2020©JeffWhite▼《色彩实验》108号,2020和《色彩实验》87号,2019Colour experiment no. 108, 2020 and Colourexperiment no. 87, 2019©JeffWhite▼《色彩实验》101号,2020,Colour experiment no. 101,2020©JeffWhite“从几何学的角度来说,彩虹实际上是一个圆。 – Olafur Eliasson‘Geometrically speaking, a rainbow is actually acircle. If the earth were not in the way, ifthere were no horizon blocking your view, youwould see the whole round rainbow as a perfectcircle wrapping around you, with your eye at itscenter. Two people standing even a few metersapart will perceive two different rainbows, eachoriented to their own perspective. We can neversee the other person’s rainbow. You could almost say that a rainbow, as anephemeral phenomenon, confirms my existence. Ifthere is a rainbow, then there must be an I whois seeing it.’– Olafur Eliasson▼《色彩实验》87号,2019,Colour experiment no. 87,2019©JeffWhite▼《光测量:雷克雅未克》系列,Light measurements: Reykjavik, 20March 2011, 13:00, 2012 and Lightmeasurements:Reykjavik, 20 March 2011, 19:25 GMT, 2012©JeffWhite02. Galería Elvira Gonzalez is pleased to present OlafurEliasson, Navegación situada, the Icelandic-Danishartist’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery.Navegación situada explores how we navigate thecomplex world of today with a series of works thatinvestigate our sense of presence and invite theviewer into an unexpected open terrain.▼展览现场,Installation view©CENIZA▼《缺席的领航者》,2021(第4和第7部分)Situated absence navigator (Sector 4), 2021 ©JensZiehe在进入展览空间后,参观者将首先看到名为《熔岩残留物》(Lavaresidue)的作品。 Entering the exhibition space, visitors encounterLava residue, 2021, an array ofsuperimposed glass sheets arranged on ashelf made of driftwood that was collected from theshores of Iceland. Originating fromSiberia, the wood wascarried to Iceland by seacurrents and bleached by the sun and saltwaterduring its long transit.Elliptical cut-outs have been removed fromthe layers of glass toreveal hidden tones and shapes behind them.▼《熔岩残留物》,2022,Lava residue, 2o22©CENIZA悬挂在天花板上的作品是《罗盘旅行者》(Compasstravellers)系列,创作于2022年,十分显著地反映了埃利亚松长期以来对于导航仪器的迷恋。 Suspended from the ceiling, the Compass travellersseries, 2022, directly addressesEliasson’s long-standing fascination withnavigational instruments. These unique compasses, each incorporating an archery arrowas needle, link us toothers through a subjectiveyet shared phenomenon: the particular visualsensation of the compass pointing north is somethingwe all understand and share.▼《罗盘旅行者》(南),2022,Compass travellers (south),2022©CENIZA展览的最后一个作品是投影装置《缺失的左脑》(The missing leftbrain),创作于2022年。 The projection that completes the exhibition, Themissing left brain, 2022, unfolds an ever-changingsymphony of shadows and reflections in front of theviewer, produced through the chance alignments ofrotating lenses and optical devices.▼《缺失的左脑》,2022,The missing left brain, 2022 ©CENIZA03. Tanya Bonakdar Gallery is pleased to announce Yourocular relief, Olafur Eliasson’s eleventh soloexhibition with the gallery, on view from March 9through April 24, 2021, in New York.▼展览现场,Installation view©TomPowel Imaging展览同名作品《你的眼球浮雕》(Your ocularrelief)被展示在主厅的黑暗空间当中,作为一个由形状、色彩和阴影构成的引人入胜的灯光秀展开于公众面前。 In the darkened space of the main gallery, Yourocular relief, 2021, the show’s eponymous artwork, unfurls before the viewer as an evocative light showof shapes, colors, and shadows. The ever-changingsequence develops and vanishes upon a large curvedscreen, behind which the viewer can glimpse theapparatuses responsible for it. An orchestra oflenses, prisms, mirrors, and color-effect filtersslowly rotate within the beams of five spotlights. The light from the spotlights is broken apart andtransformed through reflection and refraction intothe sequences visible on the screen. As eachapparatus revolves at a different pace, therelationship between the various sequences isconstantly changing, always new. These lenses format once the material for the exhibition and itsconceptual inspiration. Most of the lenses featuredhere are from Eliasson’s own collection or arerecycled from previous artworks and experiments thathave taken place in the artist’s Berlin studio.▼《你的眼球浮雕》,2021,Your ocular relief, 2021©TomPowel Imaging▼《尖锐但完美的亲缘球体》,2020,Edgy but perfect kinship sphere,2020©TomPowel Imaging▼展览现场,Installation view©TomPowel Imaging▼《小型色球装置》,Small chromosphere assembly,2021©TomPowel ImagingMore:奥拉维尔·埃利亚松。
