Tanatap环形花园咖啡馆是一个小型的多层绿化空间，带有可升降的动态平台，以建造适合步行的屋顶景观。屋顶露台连接成一系列漂浮的圆形剧场，周围环绕着绿色空间和热带户外活动区。

Ring Garden Café calledTanatap is a small prototype of multi-leveled greenspacewith dynamicplatformsthat rise and fall to create a walkable roofscape. The structurewill be connectedto create series of floating amphitheater surroundinggreen spaces and tropical outdoor activities in the middle.

如果功能空间和建筑只是作为开放花园的围护结构会怎么样？设计以这个问题入手，旨在展示一个隐藏在多层花园中的室内空间，将取代原始空间成为一个连续的空间。项目的核心理念是“有趣的共处”。团队希望这是一个令人耳目一新、充满活力、可持续的的新市民空间，因为在雅加达这样的发展中国家城市，政府运营的公共空间往往不够可靠。

Started with thequestion, what if functional spaces and the very definition of building onlyacted as an envelope of an open garden. Design was to demonstrate adisappearing indoor space, hidden within a simple multi-leveled garden. Spacesthat were created became a sequential space, and was not an initial space. Atthe heart of our project is the idea of playful togetherness. We want this tobe a refreshing and dynamic new civic space that is sustainable – businesswisein developing country cities like Jakarta, where government-run public space isunreliable.

建筑师制定了三种策略，旨在于自然界中创建一个功能性的综合咖啡馆空间。第一种方法是连接所有现有树木，组织游客的流通路线。其次是串联所有结构，在主入口营造出亲切的规模体验。接下来是在大堂/酒吧区域的两扇隐藏门中营造不同的规模，颜色，自然密度，创造对比体验。这种对现有景观的动态干预，确保了新景观干预在美学上与整个花园保持和谐。

The architectsdeveloped three strategies to create a functional integrated cafe space withinthe nature. The first approach is to connect all the existing tree as means ofcirculation for the visitor. Secondly, stringing all the structure to create anunderground intimate scale experience in the main entrance. Next, is to createa contrast experience in scale, color, density of nature, and amount of naturalsunlight penetration hidden in conceal doors in both wings in the lobby/bararea. This dynamic intervention into the existing landscape to ensure that thenew landscape intervention performs aesthetically in harmony with the garden asa whole.

Tanatap咖啡厅是一个实验性项目，用于观察建筑师重构空间层次后，使用者的行为方式会发生哪些改变。RAD+ar事务所通过该项目进一步了解了访客如何使用陌生空间，这也是为何咖啡厅内很多家具没有被限制在固定位置，访客可以根据景观及其特征来决定舒适的家具使用方式。该项目堪称一项社会实验，研究人们如何在开放空间/花园中不断重新定义对第三空间的感觉，并且这种感觉会随着一天中的人群变化而不断变化。当游客走向环形花园咖啡厅，他们会被连接两棵树木的栈道所包围，树木模糊了室内外空间的界限。进入建筑内，他们会被天窗和上方花园里人们的活动所吸引。同心圆的中间是咖啡吧，空间在暗门后面一分为二，逐渐变得不那么私密并且充斥着更多自然光。这两个空间都通向宽敞的多层次花园，花园作为空间的结束点，间接鼓励游客更多地去享受热带花园。

It was designed as anexperimental programming to see and learn on how user will behave oncearchitect restructures the hierarchy of space. RAD+ar uses this project tolearn more about visitor behavior in defining spaces they don’t understand,that is why most of the furniture in this café is undefined, blended with thehardscape and feature of the landscape, therefore acted as an experiment of howvisitor/user defines their own meaning of comfort in using this furniture. Itwas seen as a social experiment on how people keep redefining their sense ofthird space, in open space / garden, and keep changing it to keep up with thecrowds in different time of the day.As visitors enter theRing Garden, they are surrounded pathway bridge that connects 2 existing treesthat blurs the definition of indoor and outdoor space. Upon entering thespaces, they were teased by what appears to be sliced of skylight and peopleactivities in garden above. Concentric space with coffee bar in the middle,space branches into 2 spaces behind the concealed door that gradually becomeless intimate and flooded with more natural light penetrating. Both spaces areleading to the main spacious multi-leveled garden area as the ending andindirectly persuading visitor to enjoy more of what tropical garden couldbe.

在上层，整个环形花园可以看作是城市与景观之间的过渡空间。从远处看向雕塑，它将城市天际线形象刺入地平线，但当进入广场，色彩和光线将会以感性的方式，邀请游客进入环形花园的自然景观之中。

In the upper level, thewhole ring garden can be seen as a transitional space between the city and thelandscape. Looking at the sculpture from further away, it punctures askyline-like image of a city onto the horizon, but when entering the square,the colour and light, invite the visitors in a sensual way into the naturallandscape of the Ring Garden.

玻璃砖被选用为建筑表层的主要材料，它模糊了建筑和花园的界限，保证了内部隐私，同时提供充足的自然光。墙壁结构集成在玻璃砖中，从而确保其轻盈性，这带给人一种沉重的材料漂浮在花园上方的感觉，这种感觉会随着进入空间慢慢消失。

Glass block is chosenas main materials for the envelope, as it is blurring the definition of whetheror not this is considered a building / a garden metaphorically, bufferingprivacy of customer inside, while offering plenty of natural light from inside.Structure of the walls is integrated within the glass block to ensure itslightness, giving a sensation of a very heavy materials were floating abovegarden and slowly scattered along with the experience within.

RAD+ar事务所将新冠疫情视为一次机会，可以在此期间进一步推广可持续的热带户外商业空间设计，并希望能激发他人效仿。对如何使资本主义的可持续性在像印度尼西亚这样的发展中国家发挥作用，团队持坚定不移的乐观态度。

RAD+ar saw covid-19pandemic event as a small window of opportunity to more promote moresustainable means of outdoor tropical commercial spaces that hopefully caninspire many other to follow. It is a gesture of unwavering optimism how tomake a capitalism- sustainability works in developing-country minded likeIndonesia.
