MUST is a meat restaurant opened in the center of St. Petersburg by the co-owners of Bona Capona and the Bastards co-operative. The specialty of the cuisine is the grill of several types and some sophisticated techniques for stewing meat. In this project, the bureau, adhering to its basic principles, derived its inspiration from the interior architecture of the premises. The result is a brutal interior with dark, understated colours accenting the cuisine concept.
Upon entering the premises, the guests' gaze is immediately drawn to a solid-metal staircase ascending to the second floor, having an unusual geometry, while the subdued light helps one to distract from outward things and focus on what is the most important at the moment - the food. The core of the project is an open kitchen with a semi-bar seating around it, where the visitors may watch the cooks working.
The basic materials used in the project are artificially corroded metal and natural leather. Calligrapher Pokras Lampas, known for his artworks and distinctive approach to contemporary art, was commissioned to design the interior. The concept of the staff uniform was conceived by a renowned St. Petersburg designer Nelli Nedre who took the new-setting specifics into account and created a minimalist and stylish design.
