Jinghe New City isgrowing as a science and technology hub north of Xi’an in China's Shaanxiprovince. Supported by new scientific research institutes and driven byenvironmental considerations, the city is becoming a centre for developingindustries focussing on new energy and materials, artificial intelligence andaerospace. Echoing the meandering valleys carved by the Jinghe River throughthe mountains and landscapes of Shaanxi province, the Jinghe New City Culture& Art Centre is located within the Jinghe Bay Academician Science &Technology Innovation district of the city.

项目的设计与城市现有的总体规划交织在一起，抬升的庭院、花园和横跨大道下方八条车道的步道将泾河大道以北的新多媒体图书馆与南部的新表演艺术剧院、多功能大厅、工作室和展览馆连接在一起。

The centre’s designintertwines with the city’s existing urban masterplan to connect the newmultimedia library to the north of Jinghe Avenue with the new performing artstheatre, multi[1]function halls, studios andexhibition galleries to the south via elevated courtyards, gardens and pathsthat span the avenue’s eight lanes of traffic below.

平缓的坡道形成了通向架空步道的入口，项目穿过城市，将商业和住宅区与南部的公园和河流连接在一起，同时也将城市的居民引入建筑的中心，并设有直接进入规划的地铁站。建筑由一系列流动的体积，楼层和表面组成，与庭院和景观相互连接，为其社区创造了一系列室内外文化和娱乐空间。

With gently slopingramps providing a gateway to the district’s network of elevated publicwalkways, the centre weaves through the city to link its commercial andresidential districts with the parks and river to the south, while alsobringing the city’s residents into the heart of the building and providingdirect access to the planned metro station. Organized as a series of flowingvolumes, layers and surfaces interconnecting with courtyards and landscapes,the design defines a sequence of interior and exterior cultural andrecreational spaces for its community.

多媒体图书馆的露台俯瞰着全高中庭，并设有漫射天窗，为个人和集体研究照亮各种公共阅读区。图书馆将印刷出版物与沉浸式虚拟现实技术相结合，拓宽学习的边界，丰富知识的交流。表演艺术剧院位于大道的南侧，可容纳450人，可以适应许多类型的活动。多功能大厅、工作室和画廊堆叠在剧院周围，多个共享公共区域旨在增强空间的可达性和跨学科协作。

The multimedialibrary’s terraces overlook its full-height atrium with diffusing skylights toprovide a variety of public reading zones for individual and collective research.The library will integrate print publications together with immersive virtualreality technologies that expand the boundaries of learning and enrich theexchange of knowledge. Located on the southern side of the avenue, theperforming arts theatre accommodates 450 people and can be adapted for manytypes of events. The multi-function hall, studios and galleries are stacked andarranged around the theatre to share public areas designed to enhanceaccessibility and inter-disciplinary collaboration.

太阳辐射分析和适应性场地规划优化了项目在泾河新城温和的气候下的自然通风和采光。项目还建造了用于现场发电的光伏板与雨水收集系统，并将优先考虑当地生产的、高回收率的材料，以期获得中国绿色建筑的三星级认证。

Solar irradiationanalysis and responsive site planning optimise the centre’s use of naturalventilation and daylight in the mild temperate climate of Jinghe New City.Incorporating photovoltaic panels for on-site power generation together withrainwater collection, the centre’s construction will prioritiselocally-produced materials with a high recycled content to achieve a 3-starcertification in China’s Green Building program.
